Recipe Roulette - AI-Powered Cooking Assistant
End-to-end UI/UX design and native Android development of a smart cooking assistant app — covering ideation, Figma prototyping, a structured color system, and a full Kotlin implementation with 12 screens across 4 feature areas.
Deciding what to cook is a daily friction point. Existing recipe apps solve discovery but fail at decision-making, personalization, and planning integration — leaving users with decision fatigue and disconnected tools.
Designed 12 screens in Figma applying the 60-30-10 color rule (neutral background 60%, dark text 30%, brand orange #FC6011 at 10%). Built four distinct user journeys — AI chatbot, recipe discovery, meal planning, and community — each with layout patterns chosen specifically for their content type: horizontal RecyclerView for browsing, ViewPager2 for onboarding, timeline layout for planning, and full-bleed hero for recipe detail.
A production-ready Android prototype with a named AI persona (Chef Cooksy), horizontally scrollable recipe grids, a vertically scrollable home feed, a color-coded meal planner timeline, and a clean Figma-to-Kotlin resource handoff using externalized strings.xml and colors.xml — demonstrating full UI/UX engineering capability from concept to working app.
